Doreen Salas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 26, 2012.
A child of God, intelligent and beautiful, has been given the joy of being in the presence of the Lord after a brief illness. Doreen accepted Christ on Jan. 29, 1983, and was baptized. We loved and cherished her wit and generous nature. Doreen cared for others as she would for herself. Ever responsible and independent, Doreen took pride in her ability to be resilient. Doreen enjoyed growing up in Oxnard and her friends from this area will miss her deeply. Doreen loved her family and was happy to be part of family celebrations. Doreen lived in Los Angeles County for the last 20 years. She worked for the Toyota Company and as an administrative assistant in the banking industry. Her creative nature allowed her to be an actress for the last two years. Doreen is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary and Valinte Ines; her father; Louis Salas; and her uncle, Paulino Ines. She is survived by her loving mother, Isidora Vaca; stepfather, George Vaca; uncle, Vincent (Mary) Ines; uncle, Daniel (Martha) Ines; cousins, Christina Solis, Vincent Ines, Teresa Sanchez, Daniel Ines, Omar Ines and Angelina Roberts. Doreen's best quality was that she was a grateful and giving person. I'd like the memory of me To be a happy one I'd like to leave an afterglow Of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo Whispering softly down the ways Of happy times and laughing times And bright and sunny days I'd like the tears of those Who grieve to dry before the sun Of happy memories that I leave when life is done A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
