Doris Ann Abeling

Doris Ann Abeling, age 81, of Atco, NJ, passed away on January 28, 2024. She was born on November 25, 1942, in New Eagle, Pennsylvania, to the late Elizabeth Carroll Felton and William Henry Felton. Doris was a woman, known for her talent, and strength. She had a keen sense of design in art and clothing. She could crochet and knit the most incredible puppy hats, shawls and blankets for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and nursing home patients. She was most proud of the legacy she created within her loving family.

Doris is survived by her beloved children: Donald (Marcia) Friedberg, Sharon (Brian) Cumiskey, and Linda (Scott) Schaeffer. She was a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Kevin, Heather, Michael, William, Samantha, Bridget, Steven, Jeffrey, Katie, Matt, and Patrick. Additionally, she leaves behind 9 great-grandchildren: Lily, Jonah, Emma, Lydia, Scott, Rebecca, Charlie, Andrew, and Micah. Doris was preceded in death by her beautiful, adored niece, Katie Kernan.

Doris attended Monongahela High School in Pennsylvania where she graduated at the top of her class. She furthered her education at Case Western Reserve University where she met and married Thomas Friedberg the father of her children Later in life she married Daryle Abeling, who remained her best friend and partner until he died. Doris worked her entire career at Wheaton Arts where she was able to use her talents as the Event Coordinator. Her Wheaton colleagues were her second family.

In her free time, Doris enjoyed pursuing her hobbies. She was an avid seamstress and crochet enthusiast, showcasing her expertise in these crafts. Additionally, she had a green thumb and excelled as an expert gardener.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Doris's memory to Wheaton Arts in Millville, NJ, or Penn Cardiology in Philadelphia, PA.

Doris Ann Abeling will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of strength, intelligence, and love will continue to inspire her family and friends.

Doris will be interned at ParkView Cemetery in Historic Medford Village, NJ. at a later time.
