Doris Ackerman

Ackerman Doris Ackerman, age 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 15, 2015. Born and raised on a dairy farm in Greenbrier, Arkansas, Doris used her farm life skills all over the world as a military wife. An expert seamstress and cook, she raised three children with her husband. Doris coordinated her young family's moves from Fort Smith, Arkansas then onto Kansas, Germany, Hawaii, New Mexico, Japan, Pennsylvania and finally settling in the Heart of Ohio. Doris was a waitress at the famous Chef-O-Nette in Upper Arlington and Halfway House in Delaware for many years. An avid gardener, she loved to feed friends and neighbors from the garden and canned everything. One year she canned 100 quarts of tomatoes alone. "If it's worth having, it's worth working for" became her advice to all. Preceded in death by a son Samuel. Survived by her husband, John; one sister, Carolyn Kirkpatrick; children, Renee' and Jerry; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many family members throughout the USA, and not to leave out her latest mangey mutt, Tidbit. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. at the Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society/RODMAN-SNYDER MEMORIAL CENTER, 5464 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
