OTTUMWA — Doris I. “Dori” Baird, 76, of 12272 55th St., died at 3 a.m. Dec. 16, 2008, at home.She was born Dec. 15, 1932 in Ottumwa to Jim Jack and Zelda Cleora Houk Kirk. She married Charles R. Baird July 7, 1955.A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1950, she had worked at Acme Brass Foundry, Baker Music and Leanne’s Sportswear. She loved her family, her garden and her animals.Surviving is her husband, Charles; a daughter, Toni C. (fiancé Bill Waters) McFarland of Branson, Mo.; two sons, Greg A. (Laura) Baird and Scott (Colleen) Baird both of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren, Michele and her husband Danny, Jeffery, Tyler, Clayton, Alex, Kimberlee and Justin; four great-grandchildren, Faith Ann, Savannah, Hanna and Austin.She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Evelyn Kirk and a brother, Curtis Richard Kirk.Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Bill Payne officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.Obituary may be viewed at: www.legacy.com/ottumwacourier/Obituaries.asp

PHYLLIS AND I ARE SADENED BY THE PASSING THRU THE VAIL OF DORIS. SHE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON. WE WERE PUTTING A FLOAT TOGETHER FOR A REUNION AND OCTOBER FEST PARADE THE LAST TIME WE SAW HER AND SHE RODE ON THE FLOAT. WE PRAY FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF DORIS. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE FLOAT. BROTHERLY LOVE TO THE FAMILY FROM THE HELLERS...A CLASSMATE
