Doris F. Cronin

Doris F. (Wilkie) Cronin, 90, of Norfolk, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 11th, 2023.

She was born on May 3rd, 1932 to Francis and Mildred Wilkie, of Quincy, MA. Doris attended Quincy High School and was a member of the Majorette Squad. After graduation, she worked briefly as a secretary in the insurance field. She married the love of her life in 1952 and together they raised three children and managed the family business for many years, "Cronin Donuts" of Bellingham and Franklin. Doris loved children and especially babies and would babysit for anyone who asked. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting well into her 80's and gave away many beautiful sweaters, hats, mittens, afghans and baby blankets over the years. Time spent with family, enjoying her yard, birdwatching and puzzle making were some of her favorite later life activities.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur F. Cronin.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Cronin, her son, Arthur Cronin Jr and his wife, Maureen, and her daughter Barbara LaValley, all of Norfolk. She was a loving "Gram" to seven grandchildren, Kerin and her husband Lance Borst of Norfolk, Keith LaValley and his wife Becky of Harwich, MA, Bethany LaValley of Norfolk, Craig LaValley and his wife Laura of Franconia, NH, Nevin Cronin and Victoria of Limerick, ME, Garrick Cronin and his wife Gina of Plainville, MA, and Michelle LaValley of Norfolk. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Brodie, Hadley, Cameron, Kinley, Brooke, Nolan and Wesley.

She is also survived by her sister, Joan Arthur of Brockton, MA, other extended family members, many caring nieces, nephews and friends.

A private burial for family is planned for Friday, February 17, 2023 at 10 AM at the Norfolk Cemetery.

All are invited to join the family for a memorial service to be held at the Federated Church of Norfolk, 1 Union St, on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11AM, with a collation immediately following.

The family asks that if you would like to do something in memory of Doris, please do a special kindness for a child. They feel that God and Doris will treasure this act of love. There will be a basket at the collation for notes if you would like to share your act of kindness with the family.

The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care Doris received over the past year from the Compassionate Care Hospice Team, including nurses, Christina, Lisa and Allyssa. And we are all so very grateful for the exceptional care and love received day to day from personal aides, Denise, Leah and Jackie. We had a blessed journey together.
