Keith was a dear friend and the drummer in our classic rock band, Mrs. Jones' Revenge. Outside of his family, he had two great passions: His career in law enforcement, serving the Whittier community he loved - and performing music in a variety of bands over the years. Keith LOVED music and making people happy! I asked him to join us in late 2014 and he gifted us with his friendship and talent, both in great abundance. All of us who knew and loved Keith were left devastated and heartbroken by his senseless death. His surviving band mates held a sold-out benefit concert for Keith's family in Temecula where the band performs on April 9, 2017. We also established the Keith Boyer Memorial Scholarship at La Serna High, where Keith performed in marching band and choir, and awarded the first two scholarships - one to a band member and the other a choir member, just last week. The band is hoping to hold another benefit concert to raise funds for the scholarship, closer to Whittier in February, 2018. Please look us up on Facebook or our web site for details. We treasure the time we had with Keith and miss his positive spirit and friendship immeasurably.

Rest In Peace; the service was very emotional for me as I have lost six loved ones over the past year and six months; it was the passing of your beloved Keith that the Lord spoke to me through Keith's children and Keith's life; brought some healing to my pain and helped strengthened my faith. The tributes were so special and a testimony of a great man of God. I will forever keep Keith's family in my prayers. Thank you law enforcement for your service; we appreciate you. To God he the glory.

I am currently watching on TV the memorial service of Keith Wayne Boyer held at Calvary Chapel Downey. I have never known or met Officer Boyer but having watched this service, I feel that I know him. What a great man of God! Praise God first of all that the service was able to be televised. You know that thousands, maybe even millions of people are watching and out of that number, how many will be greatly touched by the spirit of God through Keith's legacy. You just don't see a service like this on TV and I praise God that the family chose to share their father and to show what a godly, caring man he was! Thank you again for sharing the service with all of us! May God continue to comfort you and give you peace. Sincerely, Sharon VanDenEykel

Almost 40 yrs. I used to live In Whittier, I know you served our city with pride and integrity. You put your life on the line daily. A line of duty death is a hard one to take. We don't get the chance to tell our loved one good bye, or how much we love them. But we do have God's promise we will all be together again, What a great reunion we have to look forward to! But till then the tears will flow, there will be that emptyness in the hearts of all those you've touched and loved in your life here. You will be missed by your family, brother officers, friends, and thoes you cared for in all your years of duty. But take heart, because of the wonderful, loved man you were, you will always be here in the most fondest of memories, because of the wonderful Legacy that you left and provided for in your lifetime. Thank you Keith for being an exemplary officer and protector of the public, and your caring ways.
To your family a most heart felt condolence. To Nancy, from one mother to another, I so know your pain, but arent we lucky to know our savior is with us to get us through the pains of this world! What an awsome day it will be when we are joined with our boys again!!! God's Blessing Always, In Christ's love. To my beloved friend Kenny, take heart, they'll be waiting for us! God's Plans are at work. Hugs

I live in Louisiana, so I did not have the honor of knowing Keith Boyer, but when I read the news story of his passing in the line of duty, tears streamed down my face. Keith Boyer's family, fellow officers, and friends, and the injured officer who was with him that day have been in my prayers. I lost my wonderful father to a rare cancer 37 years ago. Please accept my sympathy for your great loss.

I did not know Keith personally but I was raised in Whittier. My niece Kaelynn knew Keith when he worked at La Serna HS. She told me he was one of the nicest kindest persons she had ever met. Keith, you will always forever be remembered as a hero. You and your fellow officers put yourselves in harms way to help the innocent people you swore to protect. God bless your soul and allow you to Rest In Peace knowing you were protecting others. May peace surround your loved ones. Your memory will last forever in all of our hearts. God speed

My Dearest Keith,
It's been almost a week; one of the longest most painful weeks of my life and the life of so many others. The disbelief and the magnitude of what transpired when you worked your last watch has been too much to bear and the reality that you will not be around is incomprehensible.

From the first time we met in 1978 to the last time we spoke in person approximately 3 weeks ago (not counting FB exchanges), you left so many varying impressions. Freshman year through our Senior year, you were a thin young man to say the least. Your stature though wasn't measured by height or weight but by the rhythm you sustained in all of us through drums. We were intertwined through music, through Hill Toppers, and through Choir. We spent a lot of time together practicing, performing, entertaining, in the classrooms, and on retreats. We graduated. We separated for a time. We reconnected, we met up at reunions.

When you became an officer in our hometown things were different because not only had you become a man, you had a different purpose in my life and the lives of so many others. What an exciting time when I got to introduce you to my young children. How wonderful it was to stop you on the street or you pull over, exchange hugs, and talk while you were working. You would give me the "skinny" on things that were going on in our community and you would always come if needed. You were always a text or a phone call away. Who would have thought that as adults, you would then be the one that kept my children safe at the school where it all began.

Keith, you were our personal safety net. You were the one that made your job personal to the ones that knew you. You also had become one of the Patriarchs of the WPD which was really cool too.

As you can see through your heavenly eyes, there is no denying that you were loved, respected, looked up to, admired, appreciated, and needed in our little town. I know you see the memorials, I know you see the donations, I know you feel the prayers for your family and children, but I don't know if you will quite grasp how difficult life will be without you.

I know the last leg of your life was eminent as you considered retiring. You loved being a Grandpa. You were so proud of your children. You were such a genuine soul and you deserved that opportunity because you had paid your dues. Im just so sorry. I've said a lot yet I have no words. Im just so sorry. Love you Buddy. Please continue to look after your Men In Blue. We need them, Love, Janny, Hannah, Jude, and Mitch Edwards (Janny Hamrock) and in addition, LSHS Class of 1981.

Keith it was great knowing you when we were kids growing up. I pray for your family, friends and fellow Whittier Police Officer's to be able to get through this terrible time. I know your in a better place Keith. My mom was married to one of Keith's relatives, which made us cousin's by marriage. I remember the times my mom would drop me and my brother Kenny off at Keith's house to be baby sat by his brother David. You will be truly missed Cousin. I will see you some time soon in Heaven.

I met Keith in high school. We even dated for a while. He was kind and sweet. After our short-lived "romance" we remained friends; he was just that kind of guy--once he was in your life, you wanted him to always remain part of it.
Keith was well liked by everyone as a fun, friendly guy, honest & loyal, and always, ALWAYS, entertaining!
After I moved away a mutual friend told me he became a police officer. At first I was surprised but after a few moments I thought--how perfect! His innate goodness, apparent even at that young age when we first met, made him perfectly suited for his career choice and I have no doubt he served the community and profession well.
Thirty-six years later I still remember Keith, with that funny grin and a wave and "hello" for everyone, and smile at the memories. He will never be forgotten. The passing of this extraordinary individual is a spectacular loss.
My most sincere condolences to his family, co-workers and friends...

Aunt Nancy, Don, the Boyer Family, and Keith's friends,
my sincere Sympathies and Condolences for the tragic loss of my Cousin Keith. He will be truly missed. I will always cherish the memories of our childhood growing up together and the fun we had. I remember when we took Whittier PD's Written Test and you passed and I failed it. That pushed me to become a Firefighter for the LAFD. You are truly my Hero and I look forward to seeing you in God's Kingdom. God Bless you and may you Rest In Peace.

"Life often seems unfair but it really isn't. Everyone suffers and maybe the exact details are different but in the end we all live in a fallen world. God is not unfair. He has given this gift of life and instead of looking to our struggle, we need to count the blessings. The end goal is to be with God in Heaven and not to see this life in a worldly perspective."

Love your Cousin,
Kenny
