Doris B. Griscom

You left us 13 years ago yesterday. I still think of you every day. I'm forever grateful to you for showing me how to live fully and honestly, every day. You are loved, dear Mother. I am sustained by my memories of you.

I just read of Doris' death in the Eastern Magazine. I offer my deepest sympathy to her family.

Doris was a major influence in my life in the 1970's at Eastern Ct State College when she served as my advisor and mentor par excellence. She moved me in so many ways then and her influence is still felt. She was an inspired teacher and the most important support to many of her students in their development of critical, clear thinking.

Her laugh remains with me. What an amazing sound was her laughter!

Doris, I send you warm wishes and wish that you could have forever stayed on earth. But, I am sure you are organizing something for some who need organizing - wherever you are.

Love to you with the fondest of memories.

Doris was my one of my major advisors in the late 70s. She was an inspiration to me. I will never forget her positive impact on me. My condolences to her family.

What a fun, lovely, irreverant and inspirational woman, and what a fruitful and varied life she led! I'm sorry to see her gone, the world is a better place for her having been here.

Dr. Griscom was one of my teachers at Eastern CT State College (before it was a university). She encouraged and inspired me to continue to pursue my career in social work. I have never forgotten her teachings and was pleased to have known Dr. Griscom. She made a difference in my life. Her work will live on.

Kathy, my heart goes out to you and your family. Though I never met your mother, I know she must have been an exceptional woman to have raised a daughter as wonderful as you. From your stories and the photos, I can see where you got your beautiful inner light...

There are no words capable of expressing the love I have felt for Doris for the past 42 years. She was a mentor, best friend and closer than a family member. She will always be in my heart. Every time I look at my youngest son Orion Griscom Henderson, I will think of her.

My heart is heavy. I had the absolute pleasure of spending time with Doris twice a week for several months before her passing.I looked forward to seeing her, having wonderful conversations,and laughter.I feel her absence from my life.I love you Doris. Rest in Peace.My thoughts are with the family.My Deepest Sympathy.

So sad to hear this. You will be dearly missed Miss Doris - I loved getting to know you and seeing you in church. You are one of our treasured elders and we shall remember you always. Rest in peace, dear lady.
