Doris Eloise Stevens Kent

Doris Eloise Stevens Kent entered eternal rest Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at home surrounded by her children.
Mrs. Kent was an alumna of Unionville High School. She entered her formal education in 1929 and graduated in 1939. That same year she enrolled at Indiana University where she excelled in their school of business. She was a member of Belmont Church of Christ. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by her family. She enjoyed gospel and country music, quilting, reading, Indiana University basketball, as well as any sport in which her children or grandchildren were playing and walking.
Born Aug. 6, 1922, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Homer and Nora Ethel Polley Stevens.
Survivors include her sons, Robert (Mary Jo) and Thomas (Diana) Kent, both of North Vernon; daughters, Bette (Bill) Walden and Nancy Kent, Seymour, and Mary Beth (Randy) Woods, Bloomington; grandchildren, Robert (Taryn), Baron (Andrea), Randall (Kelly) and James (Jenny) Kent, Carrie (Pete) Manowitz and Kelly (David) Warren, all of North Vernon, and Samuel Woods, Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alyssa, Jonathan, Andrew, Addyson, Carter, Aniston and Brody Kent, Keegan and Mallory Manowitz and Jada, Karma, Brookley and Kassidy Warren, all of North Vernon; one stepgreat-grandson, Josh Warren, North Vernon; a sister, Ruth Stevens Kent; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Roxie and Peck McClung; brothers and sister-in-law, Clifford Kent and Cecil and Virginia Mercer Kent; and sister and brother-in- law, Edna and Elbert Dewar.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, Nashville.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
She will be carried to her eternal resting place at Duncan Cemetery by pallbearers Randall, James, Robert, Baron and Jordan Kent and Samuel Woods.
