Daniel Guers Obituary

Daniel L. "DL" Guers, 61, of 395 Ohio Ave, Shenandoah Heights, passed away peacefully at his residence Sunday with family at his side.
Born in Shenandoah, July 15, 1948, he was a son of the late Louis and Pauline Huss Guers.
Danny was a 1966 graduate of J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
"DL" was a route supervisor for Guers Dairy, where he had been employed for 35 years.
Danny was honorably discharged from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and decorated with the Pennsylvania Service Ribbon, which he received in June 1972, and the 1st Star Pennsylvania Service Ribbon, which he received in February 1974.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Shenandoah, where he was a former deacon and youth fellowship adviser. He was a lifemember of Shenandoah Heights Fire Company and a member of the former Shenandoah Elks Lodge.
Danny was a loving and cherished husband, dad, devoted pappap, brother and friend. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and love and dedication to his family.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother, Richard Guers.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, the former Susan Levin; two daughters, Judy, wife of Anthony Demalis Jr. and their children, Danny's grandchildren, Alaina and Emily Demalis, all of Shenandoah Heights, and Jennifer, wife of Paul Ruffenach and her son, Danny's grandson, Matthew Snyder, all of Holland; three brothers, John Guers and his wife, Dorothy, and Raymond Guers and his wife, Cathy, all of Shenandoah Heights, and Robert Guers and his wife, Pat, Shenandoah; two sisters, Virginia, widow of Joseph Najda, Shenandoah Heights, and Barbara Guers, Shenandoah; an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Dr. John H. Reid, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Aunt Susie, Judy and Jen, I am soo sorry for your loss. Uncle Dan was an amazing person who always had a big smile and laugh to share. Your "#1 Fan" is looking down on you, he is out of pain and in peace. You know he will be with you always. He was the best PaPa around. We loved spending our time with him at all the events and talking with him. He was the nicest of the nice!
