Doris MITCHELL Obituary
Born on Nov. 4, 1928, in Brownsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edwin Warfield Sterling and Laura Campbell Sterling.
She was a graduate of Warwick High School and attended James Madison University.
She is survived by her husband, Robert William Mitchell, a lifelong resident of Newport News until 2003 when they relocated to Leesburg, Va. Also surviving her are daughter, Laura Mitchell Lopez of Naples, Fla.; sister, Mary Ann Crane of Wake, Va.; grandchildren, Christopher Lopez and Jennifer Lopez Kouchis, both of Leesburg, Va.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 14, 2012, at Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home, Newport News, Va. Interment will be immediately following in Peninsula Memorial Park. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

To Bob and the family of Mrs. Mitchell,
I was sadden to read of Mrs. Mitchell's death. It was my pleasure to have known Mrs. Mitchell and Bob for many years in a professional capacity and considered them good friends as well. I always looked forward to seeing them at least once a year and enjoyed our conversations as we brought each other up to date on what had happened since we last met. May God comfort your hearts in the days ahead.
