Doris A. "Tootsie" (Wood) Reed, 87 years old, died in Morton Hospital on Tuesday morning, April 6, 2010, after a illness of a few days. Born in Berkley daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (Wilbur) Wood. She was a graduate of Berkley schools, Dighton High School and Bristol County Business College. Doris retired after 23 years as the Treasurer and Accounting Officer of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District. For over 56 years she was also an employee of the Raynham Dog Track. She was a former member of the Bristol County Auditors Assoc. and the Mass Assoc. of Accountants. She was a former bookkeeper at Tasca Ford for 15 years and also for Donley Firestone Store. For over 37 years, Tootsie was the Treasurer of the Berkley Congregational Church.. She was also a member of the Happy Hearts and she was a Poll Worker for the Town of Berkley. In her younger years she worked for the Taunton Daily Gazette. Along with many friends she was an active member of the Class Reunion Committees of Dighton High School. She was the widow of Willaim V. Reed. She was the sister of the late Laura Majcher and her husband, the late Ted Majcher. She is the aunt of Donna Di Stefano and her husband John of Killingworth, CT; Brian Majcher of Berkley, Nancy Wood of Taunton and the late Diane Sanson. Doris is the cousin of Carol Klesaris of ME and the great aunt of Christopher and Daryl Di Stefano. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral in the Berkley Congregational Church, 13 Berkley Street, Berkley, MA on Saturday at 11AM. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. ( Route 138 South) Taunton, MA. Interment Assonet Burying Grounds. Donations in her memory may be made to the Berkley Congregational Church.
