Doris Rogers, 96 years young

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Doris Rogers, 96 years young, who left us on a sunny January day after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, with a flare for fashion, interior design and deep love for flowers, she touched the lives of all who knew her. Of the many community organizations Doris was active, bereavement counseling was her most treasured endeavor. Doris worked with the Stephen Ministry at the Warwick Reformed Church, Warwick, NY, and the Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, Florida. In addition to contributing her time to public libraries, Scouts, 4-H and Little League, Doris sang in church choirs in every community from Brooklyn, Suffern, and Warwick, NY; to Stuart, Florida. Doris proclaimed that she was born with "matching hat and shoes," and as we all know she never left the house without an impeccable outfit. Beyond her service to others, a proud moment was joining husband Ray in designing and building the home of their dreams in Warwick 50 years ago: a place that resonates with all who visit.

The family thanks the angels of Brighton Hospice: Raegan, Ty, V, Jean, and Carissa, as well as the angels of Arden Courts Farmington, CT: Marcia, Julie, Melandie, Jerry and Holly who lovingly cared for our mom.

Her three children, Doreen Oshinskie (Len), Larry (Ivonne), and Kevin (Vaida) and three grandchildren will gather to commemorate her loving journey and celebrate the love she sowed. As was her wish, the memorial service will be private. We invite you to join in our celebration by continuing Doris's passions: visit a library, sing, read a book, engage in kind conversation, arrange flowers, or tidy a corner of your world! Find beauty in everything and create beauty in your life - and in another's life. Most of all, please dress for dinner! Peace.

Grandma, we are forever thinking of you. You left such an impression on my life and reminded me to find joy in the small things in life. They called you "Giggles" as a kid and I feel like that is very true to your being - a giggly woman who wanted to help others. Life wasn´t always easy on you but I think in your heart of hearts, you tried your best. You were very tough on yourself for never going to college, but I don´t think that ever stopped you from pursuing your dream to learn and know more. You imparted that on my mom- the quest to know more - and I think colleges would have a hard time keeping up with your thirst to know more.

We love you and we know that you tried to comfort your fellow human by your bereavement work. That is the blessing you leave behind.
