Doris Smalley Obituary
She taught for almost 40 years at local schools, first in Thornton, then for the Lodi Unified School District.
She married Mel Smalley in 1955, and together they raised their 2 children, Linda Smalley (Ron Rall) and Melvin Smalley (Angie)
Doris will also be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Mel, predeceased her.
Donations may be made in Doris' memory to your favorite animal welfare charity.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10 am at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial, 14165 N. Beckman Rd. in Lodi.

Dear Smalley family,
I taught with Doris at Lawrence School in Lodi for a few years. I always remembered her for her charm, humor and classy demeanor. May God bless her and have her near to Him. She was a special teacher and wonderful colleague.

I taught with Doris at Needham and Lawrence schools. We always enjoyed working together. She had a quiet unassuming way and a dry sense of humor. After we retired we would often
see each other around Lodi and enjoyed a laugh or two. I will miss Doris.

I remember Mrs. Smalley! She was the other kindergarten teacher. I had Mrs. Hutchins. Nice lady.

When I moved next door to Doris I realized I had the best neighbor. We looked out for eachother and swapped stories about the neighborhood and how much it has changed over the years. I will remember her as not only as the person who made me feel welcomed to Lodi but also one of my close friends. My condolences to the family, I will miss her.

For us Mrs. Smalley will be remembered for being a wonderful neighbor to Louie Sager. She always brought him cookies and years of friendship. Her house with all the seasonal decorations will be missed. Bless you all and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Loved Mrs. Smalley at Needham School, my Kindergarten teacher so many years ago, even ran into her a few years ago at a store here in Lodi, we had a very nice visit! Such a sweet lady!
