Doris Valdeon

Valdeon, Doris STILLWATER Doris Lawyer Valdeon, 78, died Wednesday morning, July 24, 2013, at her home, after a brief illness. Born in Stillwater, December 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Eva Bellinger Lawyer. Doris had graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in Albany. A homemaker for all her married life, she was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed the company of her kids, their families and her siblings and families. Doris enjoyed reading, knitting, her vegetable gardens, bird watching and her New York Yankees. A faithful and devoted member of Assumption-St. Paul Church, Doris was a Eucharistic Minister, taught religious classes, was a collection counter and was a former church council member. Sadly, Doris was predeceased by her husband and best friend for over 53 years, Peter A. Valdeon Sr., who died August 5, 2008. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Reuben Messian; brothers, Glen, Raymond and William Lawyer; and sisters, Mary and Lydia Lawyer, Hazel Notro and Dorelea Cuilla. Survivors include her four children, Peter (Denise) Valdeon Jr. of Stillwater, Deborah (Alan) Simmons of Los Angeles, Calif., Diana (John) Neeley of Malta and Paul (Tina) Valdeon of Clifton Park; 10 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, along with many nieces, nephews and their families. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at noon at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to All Saints on the Hudson Church Endowment Fund, in loving memory of Doris S. Valdeon.
