Doris Warner

Doris, Warner Ione Cooley of Waterford, passed away at her home on Silver Lake, November 5, 2017 at 90 years of age. Dear wife of the late F.H.O. Warner M.D. "Hugh"; loving mother of Stephen C. Warner and Kathryn L. (Richard) Schneider; proud grandmother of her favorite grandson Kurt A. Schneider; sister of the late Charles (Marianne) Cooley. Doris was a lifelong learner. She had a prescription for boredom: take another class and learn new things. She had a master's degree in clinical psychology and worked for several mental health agencies, as well as a member of, American Association of University Women (50 years), Waterford Township Library Broad, Michigan Library Association, former president of the Michigan Council for Libraries, Friends for Libraries, and the Waterford Board of Education. Libraries and education were her passions, as well as, the arts. She was instrumental in establishing the Waterford Friends of the Arts. Doris loved to travel, especially with the Nomads and Elder Hostel Travel Groups even a trip to Africa to celebrate her 80th birthday. She was passionate about everything she did, which included playing the organ, photography, weaving, time with her family, friends, and when she wasn't working on her many projects, she was enjoying time at her home (built with her husband Hugh) in the 60's on Silver lake. Memorial service will be held Monday, November 20th 1pm gathering, 2pm service, 3pm light refreshments at All Saints Episcopal Church, (171 W. Pike Street, Pontiac).
