Dorothea BUCHANAN Obituary
August 26, 1928 - March 14, 2013
On March 14th, 2013, Dorothea Buchanan (Dodie) passed away at the Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
Dodie bravely and stoically lived with Parkinson's disease for the last 20 years of her life.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. David Meldrum Buchanan and her children, Carolyn (John), Robert, Ian (Cindy) and Bruce (Nicola). As matriarch of the Buchanan family, Dodie will be dearly missed by all, including her seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and extended family from the Toronto area.
Dodie worked tirelessly as a member of the Chancel Guild for St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, which she joined in 1952 upon arrival from Ontario. She cared for, loved and was deeply proud of her family. Dodie was a selfless individual and a fun loving, loyal friend to her bridge playing, curling and golf companions.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Dodie Buchanan will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 11111 - 57 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta on Monday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of floral tributes, the family would ask that donations be made to Parkinson's Research.

Thinking back to a very beautiful, wonderful and gentle person. On the full moon, Sherrie Beck and I always think of Aunt Mary, Gran, my dad and mother and others. Aunt Dodi has joined their table, and what good times they must all be sharing. Our sympathy Uncle Dave, and Family, on the passing of Aunt Dodi. Our thoughts are with you at this very sad time.
