Dorothy L. Acheson

Dorothy L. Acheson, 93, of Rostraver Township, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, in the Harmon House. Born July 10, 1921, in Webster, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. Gilmer Sr. and Myrtle (Secrist) Gilmer. Dorothy was a retired secretary from the Credit Union of the U.S. Steel Donora Works. She was a former member and Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church in Belle Vernon. She was a member of Pricedale Union Church, where she taught adult Sunday school. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Ann Acheson, of Rostraver Township; two grandchildren, Daniel Eugene Nangle and Jacqueline Nicole Nangle; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Eugene Waldmann and Kaitlyn Waldmann. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Abram Eugene Acheson; brother, Thomas Gilmer; and sister, Viola Johnston. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with Pastor James F. Mimidis officiating.
