WILLISTON, FL - Dorothy M (Heleker) Brooks has passed away in Williston, Fl on Oct 4, 2024. She was born in Peekskill, NY and graduated from Peekskill High School.

Her parents were Flossie M (Turner) Heleker and John W Heleker. She worked as a secretary for a lawyer in NYC. She loved roller skating and there met Robert R Brooks (deceased) and they were married soon after. They moved to Mahopac, NY and had 3 children. They had many kinds of animals, fish and birds. They were well known in the cat fancier's world because both were judges and raised persian cats. (Brookshaven Cattery). Dorothy moved to Waterbury, CT and worked as a nurse's aide and later moved to Pawling, NY. Soon after she moved to Williston, Fl.

She leaves behind 2 daughters Dawn Mitesser and husband George Mitesser of Wolcott, CT, Linda Henderson and husband Larry Henderson of Williston, Fl, 1 son Clay Brooks and wife Karen Brooks of Palm Coast, Fl, 4 grandchildren Donna Flaherty of Melbourne, Fl, George Mitesser and husband Kyle O'Toole of Torrington, CT, Clayton Brooks and wife Claudia Brooks of Buda, Tx, Tyler Brooks of Orlando, Fl, 2 great grandchildren Shana Flaherty of Orlando, Fl and Lyra Brooks of Buda, Tx, 1 great, great granddaughter Elena Brivette of Orlando, Fl.

Services will be private next week (October 16 & 17)

She took Dawn and I roller skating many weekends. It´s where I learned to roller skate. Dawn was great at it. I had no idea how she loved roller skating till now. Thank you Dorothy.
