Dorothy Edwards

Dorothy A. Edwards JOHNSONVILLE - Dorothy A. Edwards died on July 3, 2017 at home with her daughter by her side. She was 98 years old. Born in Valley Falls on the family farm on January 29, 1919 to the late Charles H. and Ellen (Aspinell) Edwards. Dorothy was a graduate of Valley Falls High School and the Troy Business School. A Veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII from 1944-1946. She was employed for New York State in the Audit and Control Department of the Comptroller, retiring in 1976. After she retired she continued to winter ski into her seventies. She and her sister loved traveling to visit relatives in California, Canada and England. She also took many trips to see her daughter in Texas, then helped her at the family farm selling flowers and taking care of customers. She enjoyed the people and seeing old friends. She had also volunteered at the Gift Shop at Samaritan Hospital in Troy and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran and Prince of Peace Lutheran Churches in Lansingburgh. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carol Edwards of Johnsonville. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, John H. Edwards, Charles H. Edwards, Jr. and her sister, Alice M. Edwards. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date, to celebrate Dorothy’s life. Carol would like to thank the Community Hospice, especially the nurses and staff who lovingly cared for her Mother.
