Dorothy Holtan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2012.
Dorothy Ann Holtan was called from this earth by God to life everlasting through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 29, 2012, in Tyler.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1932, to the late Joseph and Agnes Peterson in Lake Mills, Iowa. She grew up in Iowa and graduated high school in Forest City, Iowa.

She married the love of her life, David Harlan Holtan on June 10, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, Iowa. They moved to Texas in 1957 and always felt Texas was their home. She especially loved Tyler and East Texas and was a huge fan of the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys.

Dorothy and David owned and operated their family business, Holtan Honda for more than 25 years.

Dorothy was preceded in her trip to eternity by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Peterson; her husband, David Harlan Holtan; and her sister, Jean Edgerton.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kimberly J. Trimble and Stephanie J. Hilburn; her son, Thomas David Holtan; her sons-in-law, Curt Trimble and David Hilburn; sisters, Norma Anders and Jan Van Dam; brother, John Peterson; and sisters-in-law, Mary Harland and Karen Anderson.

Services for Dorothy will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Lloyd James Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Johnny Beard officiating.

If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 130577, Tyler, 75713.

Special thanks to Dr. Sasha Vukelja, Dr. Noah Israel, Dr. Jeff Fidone, Dr. Stephen Wells, Sister Irene, the Rev. Matthew Hoffman, Melissa Mclane, Steven Stine and Laurie Dowell of Mother Frances Hospital for their compassion and care. She will miss her special friends, Sherry Glover, Mrs. Mildred Kitchens, Mrs. Doris Massey and Mrs. Margaret Brandt.
