HOWDEN, Dorothy Dot (nee Ness) Dorothy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the youthful age of 97 years. She was born in Dunblane, Scotland. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Archie; parents; aunt; brother Harry Ness; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Olive (Stan) Rawsthorne; brothers-in-law Leonard Howden and Lyle Johns. She is survived by cousins Jean Ness and Mary Kemp of Toronto; sister-inlaw Muriel Howden of Regina and family Cindy Howden, Colleen Seminuk, Penny (Don) Tomkinson, Pat (Sandy) Howden; sister-in-law Lorraine Johns of Stettler, AB and family Kim Johns, Sharon (Jim) Kuhl; nieces and nephews Gay Danyleko, Lee (Elaine) Rawsthorne, Don Rawsthorne and Judy Rawsthorne (Larry Dryden); as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends. Dorothy was raised in Scotland by her Aunt Minnie (Mary). Dorothy came to Canada as a war bride in 1945 when she married the love of her life Archie Howden. Dorothy always remembered travelling to Canada from war time Britain with the war brides on one half of the ship and the troops on the other half. Dorothy and Archie resided in Radville, SK for many years and later resided in Regina, SK. She enjoyed knitting, petit point, playing cards, games and visiting with her friends and family. She was remarkable, driving a car until she was 96 and managing to live on her own until her passing. She was a loving and generous person and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the Ewing family for being her extended family throughout the years. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Zion United Church, 120 Broad Street in Regina on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Ken Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 225 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 4B3.
