Dorothy Johnson (Barteau) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2025.
Dorothy Ethel Johnson (Barteau), aged 82, passed away on June 6, 2025, in Arlington, TX. Dorothy was born on March 20, 1943. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother whose love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life.

Dorothy had a successful career as a salesperson, notably being recognized as a Top 15 Salesperson for Yamaha snowmobiles in the USA, an achievement that earned her a Caribbean cruise with her daughter Brenda. She also received numerous top sales awards for Honda motorcycles and Yamaha snowmobiles through her family's small business. Alongside her husband Bruce, Dorothy co-operated a gift shop where she painted wooden items crafted by Bruce and taught painting classes, showcasing her artistic talent.

Her hobbies included cooking, cake decorating, crafting, painting, and reading. She was an avid player of Best Fiends on her Kindle. Dorothy's love for Christmas was unmatched, and she cherished QVC's Christmas in July events. She also collected new recipes and cookbooks, continually adding to her vast collection.

Dorothy enjoyed watching services from the Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County starting in 2020, a practice she continued due to health conditions that later restricted her ability to leave her home.

She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Spencer (and Sid Baker) and Brenda Keller (and Peter); grandchildren Jeffrey Spencer (and Kara), Amanda Spencer, and great-granddaughter Collins Spencer; brother Carl Barteau (and Marilyn Amato); brother-in-law Robert Elbe (and Vivian); sister-in-law Lynda Fassett; nephews Stephen Barteau (and Annette), David Elbe (and Lauren), Loren Fassett (and Tanya); nieces Laurie Bunch (and Marcus), Wendy Elbe, Deeann Fassett, Jan Fassett; plus several great-nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Stella Barteau, her husband Bruce Johnson, her sister Linda Elbe, her brother-in-laws Wendall Johnson, Raymond Fassett and other beloved family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Paschal Funeral Home, 120 SW 3rd St, Kerens, TX 75144, at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 21, 2025. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at https://t2t.org/. Dorothy's legacy of love, dedication, and creativity will be remembered by all who knew her.

There are so many memories that come to mind when I think of you.
From swimming in the rivers, the thousand buttons on a pair of shorts, to the jokes and countless card games at the table.
You will be missed. Love you.
