Dear Marion & Family
Your mom will always be remembered by her friends at SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators) for her dedication, talent and cheerful participation in both national and local events. We will especially miss her in our local Ventura/Santa Barbara region as she sat in the first row at Writers' Day every year. Please accept our sincere sympathy.

I live in Thousand Oaks and opened yesterday's Star and recognized the name and subsequent photo. I had the pleasure of meeting Dorothy in Cairo, Egypt, a quarter of a century ago. I arranged for her to meet lots of school children as well as to visit the many antiquities of the country. I remember she made bookmarks for the children with their names on them and she made one for me which is in front of me now as I write these comments. Dorothy was a dear lady; until yesterday, I had no idea she was residing in Simi Valley. Regardless, she's at rest and peace now. My sincere condolescences to her two girls; my sister and I really do know what it's like to lose a darling mother. God bless.

Marion - Our condolences to you and your family over Dot's passing. She was an amazing member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators) since the organization's inception. She was a welcome participant not only in national events, but as a member of our local group. My husband, David, and I enjoyed sharing sandwiches with her during Writers' Day lunchtimes! I will miss her, and will think of her at every SCBWI event.
