Dorothy A. Marm, 96, of Crest Avenue, Washington PA, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was born August 29, 1914 in Holidaysburg PA, the daughter of Warren Augustus and Jane Marie Dixon Fogel. Mrs. Marm graduated from Crafton High School in 1932. She then attended Indiana Teachers College and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. She married the late Walter J. Marm on April 26, 1939. Walter was a Pennsylvania State Policeman for over thirty years. They resided most of their married life in Washington PA, where Dorothy was a homemaker. She worked for twenty years in sales at Lang's Apparel Store. Throughout her life, she played piano and loved flowers and gardening. In later years, she enjoyed making jewelry and personalized greeting cards. In 1966, as a proud Mom, Dorothy watched her son Joe receive the Congressional Medal of Honor for valor during the Vietnam War. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Christian Mothers. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her son, Col. Walter J. "Joe" (Deborah) Marm USA ret. resides in Fremont, NC. Her daughter, Nancy (Thomas) Crumrine lives in Columbus, Ohio. She has six grandsons; Lt. Col. Walter J. (Lynn) Marm III USA, Justin P. Marm, Major William J. (Dana) Marm USA, Jordan E. (Beth) Grable, Branden A. (Aimee) Grable and Thomas L. (Debbie) Crumrine Jr. Four granddaughters; Courtney E. (Justin) Finneran, Carrie E. Grable, Michele R. Crumrine and Alison M. (Bill) Peltcs, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; Walter J. Marm, two daughters; Dorothy Marie Marm and Mary Patricia Grable; two sisters; Margaret Kalberer and Louise Shannon and one brother: Joseph Fogel. Friends will be received on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the WARCO-FALVO FUNERAL HOME, INC., Wilson at East Katherine Avenues, Washington PA, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director. A prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, W. Chestnut St., Washington with Father Michael Ruffalo as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to the Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund, 119 W. Chestnut St. Washington PA 15301 or to the charity of one's choice.
