Dear Mattson family...
I am so sorry for your loss...I have wonderful memories of Dot during my years with the police department. She had a " tough" exterior but would do anything for you! She was with me the day I received the call from the adoption agency that I had a son! I was absolutely frantic and she talked me through what I needed to do! I will never forget her watching me leave the department to go pick him up and she was standing their crying! I have often thought of her and wondered how she was. Please know my thoughts,, prayers and love are with you during this most difficult time.

My memories of "Dot" go WAY BACK to our days at Margaret Park Elementary School (same school LaBron James attended--just different eras) and our Brownie troop with Mrs. Jackson and Dorothy's mother (as so-leader). We met in the Margaret Park U.P. Church after school (just around the block from Bob's Hamburger). That was a marvelous hour/hour-and-a-half--always busy and fun! But the thing I recall most is that Dorothy (as we called her in our childhood) used to spend her allowance money and buy penny candy as a treat for all of us! As one who clung tightly to my pennies, I couldn't HELP but think, "Boy, is THAT ever neat! She is SO generous!" The last 3 times I saw her: At the open house Margaret Park School held prior to its closing; meeting at Bob's Hamburger one day; our last Kenmore High School class reunion, where, wouldn't you know--Dot had photos of our previous reunion to share with everybody. Over hamburgers, she told me ALL ABOUT her girls--what a joy they were/are to her! Prayers to you all, Bob, Michelle, Denise and Jen, Kathie Hardgrove

I have so many wonderful memories of working with Dot at the Tallmadge PD. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone! I always felt that she knew more about Tallmadge than anyone. She was so proud of her family and I always loved listening to her stories of them. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I am so very sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Sheryl Dunn
