A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at The First Methodist Church of Evant. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery. Dorothy Irene was born Oct. 3, 1922, in Jonesboro, Texas, the third child of John Luther and Letha Murrell Robuck. Her grandparents, Paul and Rebecca Wilson Robuck and Lemuel B. and Sally B. Thomas Murrell, were early Coryell County residents. Dorothy graduated from Jonesboro High School, attended Weatherford Junior College and graduated from Howard Payne University with a degree in education. Dorothy and Lawrence Sellers were married on July 20, 1942. They lived in the Jonesboro - Pancake area before moving to Evant in 1950. Lawrence preceded Dorothy in death on June 8, 1993. Dorothy's teaching career began at the Evergreen School and spanned more than 30 years. After her daughter Neta was born, she spent the next 19 years at home rearing her five children and helping Lawrence with their farming enterprises. When her youngest child, Jimmy, began school, Dorothy returned to teaching at the Evant Elementary School and completed her career with the Windham School District in Gatesville. Dorothy showed her love for teaching with every child she met. Dorothy was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Evant, serving as a Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and member of various church committees. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Coryell County Retired Teachers Association and the Jonesboro Ex-students Association, which she served as President and was Ex-student of the Year in 1997. Dorothy enjoyed having her children, family and friends together for holidays, other special occasions and events such as fishing on the Leon and tubing on the Guadalupe. She loved to travel and visited many places of interest in Texas and the U.S. as well as Australia, Belgium, Canada and Germany. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; two brothers, Durwood and Gaylon Robuck; brother-in-law, George Sinclair; and sister-in-law, Maurice Robuck. She is survived by her sister, Murrell Sinclair of Midland; and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Robuck of Austin. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Neta and Richard Conner of College Station, John and Donna Sellers of Grand Prairie, Irene and Gary Standard of Lake Jackson, Gene and Jan Sellers of Red Oak, and Jimmy and Merry Sellers of Johnson City. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including Marvin and Beth Bramblett. Marvin lived with Dorothy and Lawrence while attending Jonesboro High School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to Dorothy be made to the Coryell Memorial Foundation/Oaks, Welcome, Meadows; the American Alzheimer's Association or the First United Methodist Church of Evant. Your mother was one of my "mentors" when I first started teaching Kdg at Evant in 1973. I remember the night she fell at Tarleton during a PE class, breaking both arms. I don't know that I would have been as brave as she was that night. She showed all of us what grace looked like.
I will cherish the years I worked with her...I considered her a dear friend.
My mother and father also knew your mother. My dad sends his best to the family.

I was Dorothy's principal when she worked for Windham School District. Dorothy was always a help. She was supportive and kind. We enjoyed her. She was a good person that we will miss.
