Dorothy A. "Dottie" Stevens, 92, of Frederick, Maryland passed peacefully with her family at her side on December 14, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Lowell F. "Steve" Stevens. Born on September 23, 1930 in Hilo, Hawaii, Dottie was the daughter of Alice and George Gushiken. She was predeceased by her siblings, Helen, Sachi, George, Robert, Harold and Shirley and survived by her siblings, Earl and Bobby. She is also survived by her children to whom she showed a love beyond measure, Bonnie Stevens, Gary (Rebecca) and Carol (Ed) Goundry. She was predeceased by her son, Kelvin. She was the most loved "Grammy" to 10 grandchildren: Keleanne, David, William (Andrea), Allison (Cody), Andrew, Benjamin, Katherine, Gabriella, Brooklynn and Garrison as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Reece and "Auntie" to many nieces and nephews as well as cousins.

She graduated from Hilo High School and the Honolulu Business College. Dottie was the sales manager and events planner at the Holiday Inn. She coordinated many weddings and business meetings. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the FMH Hospital Auxillary. She finished her career as a security assistant with the DOD at Fort Detrick, retiring in 1996. During her golden years, she remained active with the AARP and NARF and enjoyed her monthly luncheons even until October 2022.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She loved gardening with a special love of flowers and cherry blossoms, crocheting blankets and scarves for her children, grandchildren and their friends, cooking classes of world cuisines, travel here and abroad and, in her later years, walking. She made friends everywhere she went, and no one left her company without a gift of candy, cookies or fruit. She will be remembered for her elegant style, her generous and kind spirit and love of all things beautiful.

A sincere thanks goes out to her primary care physician, Dr. Marsha Shaw and her dentist, Dr. Niraj Patel and their wonderful staffs, the caregivers of Shepherd's Staff, especially Karen and Victoria, who assisted her family in her final year as well as the Frederick Health Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 20 from 4-7 pm at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home at 106 East Church Street in Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 118 East Second Street, Frederick, on Wednesday, December 21 at 11 am. The Mass will be livestreamed on the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church's Youtube channel.

Dottie was a very active member of our senior exercise class. She came to our many birthday luncheons and was a pleasure to be with. She always had candy or other sweets to hand out before exercise began. It was a real joy to know her.

Lowell and family, so sorry for your loss of Dorothy. I will never forget years ago and I worked at the American Legion when it was downtown and she went to Hawaii to visit family she brought me a pineapple back. I was young and had no idea how to cut it. She then proceeded to cut it for me. She also brought macadamia nuts for me. She was one of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet. R.I.P. Dorothy
