I lived across the street from Dorothy and Russell on Penn Road in the'90's. They were wonderful neighbors and I enjoyed many visits with them on their front porch. I missed those visits when I moved to Tennessee in 2001.

When I was a young boy, about 9 years old, the Troy school system offered free lessons on band instruments. My parents found out that Dorothy and her brother Bob no longer needed the trumpet they had played at school, so my parents bought it from the Slacks and it became my first band instrument, and was subsequently replaced with others. At somewhat the same time, Mrs. Slack gave me 2 or 3 Judy Bolton mystery books that started my life-long love of that series of mysteries, which I still read. Since I am much younger, 79 now, I only knew about Dorothy and Bob. I did have a very nice visit with her and her husband about 10 summers ago, at their house on Penn Rd. I was born and raised two houses west of their house, on Race St. My two older half-brothers, Bob and Dean, would have known Dorothy & Bob.
