"Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laugh at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I'm out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well."

I know that Dodie is just round the corner experiencing the love of God.

Rest in Peace dear precious friend.

"A life well lived" comes easily to mind when I think of Dodie. And then her wonderfully strong, solid faith and life force. I, and so many more, benefited from her goodness, her attention, and her, well, sparkle. To the sons that she loved so dearly, may your sorrow lessen and may your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories.

When I first moved to Ponte Vedra in 2000, we used to have lunch every Saturday morning. Although our breakfasts ended, there was always a special place in my heart for Dodie. She always could find the humor in everything and was never too busy to encourage. You are missed Dodie and I know you are in a safe and nurturing place now.

Dodie will truly be missed. I worked with her at Baptist Medical Center Beaches, in Outpatient Registration. She was a very joyful person and a blessing to get to know.Thank you for giving your time as a volunteer. It was a pleasure to work with you.

When I first met Dodie, it was as though I had known her for a long time. She was so warm, friendly and open. I will miss not only her wit and wisdom, but also her spiritual insight. She had a wise soul.

Dodie was ALWAYS thinking of the other person. She spoke so often of her gratitude for all her blessings and was one of those people whose cup was always full. She truly "cared" and I will miss her spirit and wisdom. Thanks for your friendship and for just being you. Always, Peggy Glover

I am so sorry to miss the Memorial Service for Dodie. I will be out of town. Dodie was one of my favorite people in the BMCB Auxiliary. She was a special person and I will miss her. My sympathy to the family.

Dodie was a beautiful, faithful, and spiritual women who blessed me and many women during her life and through her death. She walked with God everyday. I know she wants us to celebrate the freedom she has now that her spirit is no longer confinded to her body. Hallelujah!!

The first time I walked into Christ Church in August 2002 I saw Dodie and immediately felt at home. She had a remarkable resemblance to my grandmother who had died only a couple years earlier...short gray hair and bangs that framed her face; a deep Florida suntan that covered her small, thin frame; and perfectly straight, sparkling, white teeth that gave a welcoming smile.
Then, I heard Dodie speak and the similarities grew...a deep faith in God, a formidable display of trust that suggested forgiveness & faith heals all, and a sense of humility that explained her peace and serenity.
Recently, after Dodie got sick, I met her son, Tyler…and what a coincidence...I had known "Ty" in the mid 80's when we both worked in radio in Tallahassee.
It isn't such a small world after all...and our world will not be the same without Dodie in it...but her legacy will live on through each of us.
Peace to her family and the many, many friends who’s lives she touched again and again.

Jay and Tyler,
I am sorry for your loss. Your mom was a exceptionally special person who endured and overcame many obstacles. She was a true inspiration and her ability to talk to people about their problems and help them through tough times was priceless. We worked together at Coldwell Banker and she kept my son Jonathan on occassion several years ago. I am sure you have seen the picture frame with the pictures of Jonathan and Heidi. I wish you both peace during this time of grief.
