Dorothy Walters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 19, 2024.
Dorothy "Dottie" Virginia Moore Walters left this earthly world on October 4, 2024. At 96 years old she lived a long, fulfilled, and healthy life. She will be missed beyond measure by her loving family and friends.

Dottie was born on January 16,1928 in Alexandria, Virginia to Leo and Virginia Cramer Moore; she was the youngest child of 4 and the only daughter. After losing her parents at a young age, she joined the family of her Aunt and Uncle, Charles and Evelyn Robey, who became her second parents and whom she adored.

Her family purchased a summer home in Colonial Beach, Virginia in 1939 and after growing up spending summers there she fell in love with Colonial Beach and eventually made it her home raising her three children there. She was a loving, caring mother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called her "Ga", were her true loves. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she encountered and was loved dearly by her family and her community.

Dottie was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan. She never missed a game and would make calls during the games to discuss plays and strategy with her children. She didn't just watch football, she could "talk" football, and it was a great joy to experience.

Dottie spent over 25 years working at Colonial Beach Moose Lodge #1267. She was dedicated and devoted to her customers, many who came in the Moose just to see her.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert Sidney Walters, Sr., Grandson Logan Edward Woodworth, Granddaughter Sidney Evans Walters Sanders, Sons in Law Bruce Edward Woodworth and Michael Wayne Pearson, her 3 brothers Clem, Bill and Jack Moore.

She is survived by her children Susan Walters Pearson (Warren Church), Robin Walters Woodworth and Robert Sidney Walters, Jr. (Kelly); her Grandson Cody Charles Woodworth (Roche') and Granddaughter Niki Edwards Harvey (Carlos); her great grandchildren Brandon Johnson, Carlos, Jr. and Carmen Harvey, Bo, Ben and Jamie Woodworth, "sisters" Kathryn Robey and Jean Robey Porter, Grandson-in-law Drew Sanders, her beloved little dog London and many dear nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Dorothy Walters be made to the Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, (225 Dennison Street, Colonial Beach, VA 22572) or Westmoreland County Department of Emergency Services (P.O. Box 70, Warsaw, VA 22572).

Information regarding a time for remembrance will be forthcoming.
