I met Dorothy at the 2017 session of Under the Volcano writers workshop in Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico. We were together in the fiction group. When the workshop ended, she invited me to her beautiful home in Cuernavaca. On my return trips to Tepoztlán, we visited museums and gardens in both Cuernavaca and Mexico City. Lunch was always a delight, whether in her dining room or at one of her favorite restaurants in town. There was never a lull in conversation. Dorothy was generous with her stories and a good listener. We talked of writing, labor, and travel. Though are times together were infrequent, I will remember Dorothy with great fondness and admiration. She will be missed.

I would like to stress that the Tamiment Collection, widely known and used by scholars and students of the history of the labor and socialist movements as well as those active in these movements, was transformed and enormously expanded by the work of Dorothy Wick. That is indeed her main legacy for future generations, and it is a worthy one.
I met Dorothy, who became a close friend for nearly the past four decades, through her old friend Danny Freeman. Danny, who died five years ago, was one of my own oldest friends.
Both before and after Dorothy´s move to Cuernavaca, she and I often discussed cultural and literary matters, and world events more broadly. On Dorothy´s frequent visits back to New York, we went to museums, concerts and other cultural activities.
Mention must be made of Dorothy´s devoted housekeeper Sugey and her husband Aurelio. Sugey was not only a housekeeper, she also became, despite all the difficulties posed by language differences, a close friend of Dorothy´s for the past 17 years.

My first memory or Dorothy was when i went to her house for a meeting of a writing group. On another visit we also walked around her garden and she offered that I could come take some cuttings of her plants.

Dorothy was one of the most courageous people I know, and was always interested in Foundation Don Bosco, accompanying us on trips, attending School events and our social events. She sponsored a student that is now at the University, first to go beyond High School in the family. D. you will be missed here in Cuernavaca.

Dorothy was the only aunt four of us had. Really wish I had a stronger relationship with her. Sadly that an entire generation is now gone. The time has come for the next generation up. Are you all ready for this.
