May GOD continue to bless Louise and the entire Layne family!

For many years, Doug was an outstanding teacher, coach and administrator for the Brevard County Public School System. If you desired a job to be done right and on time, you always called on Doug. He was firm, but fair in all he did and America's schools would be much better today with administrators like Mr. Layne. Upon retirement, he was tremendously missed at Palm Bay High School and in the community.

Doug leaves behind a legacy of accomplishments and a world of friends!

Louise, I am so very saddened to read in today's paper about Doug. I have always regarded you both with great respect and as good KY-friendly friends. The time I was fortunate to work with Doug showed me his character as very hardworking, compassionate and willing to help anyone in anyway he could. His integrity couldn't be matched. I'm only sorry that after we both left Johnson, we lost touch. Please accept my deepest sympathy for you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
