Douglas Alto Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2024.

Douglas Robert Alto, age 57, passed away on September 30, 2024, in Duluth, MN. Born on March 16, 1967, Doug was known for his multifaceted career, in carpentry, maintenance, truck driving, taxidermy, and various other trades; embodying the true spirit of a 'Jack of All Trades.'

Doug grew up in the small towns of Alango and Cook, MN, where he attended local schools, forming lifelong friendships and laying the foundation for his career path. His work ethic and ingenuity were appreciated by all who truly knew him.

An avid outdoorsman, Doug relished his time hunting, fishing, riding anything with a motor, animals and woodworking projects. These hobbies not only brought joy to Doug but also to those who had the pleasure of joining him on these adventures.

He is survived by his son, Jesse Alto; his dog, Ruger; cats, Milton & Millie; brother, Gary Alto; sisters, Julie Alto and Holly (Joe) Sadowski; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Kathleen Alto; brother, Dean Alto; and his paternal grandparents Toivo & Melia Maki (John Alto), maternal grandparents, Matthew & Impi Arvola.

Doug's life was marked by his dedication to his family, friends and pets, his amusing sense of humor, and his ability to help others whenever he could. His presence will be missed by his loved ones.

Per Doug's wishes, there will be no memorial services. His memory will continue to live on through the stories shared by those who knew him best.

The family of Doug Alto would like to thank all his friends and family who helped him in any way to get through this world Doug called LIFE.

I´m praying for comfort and healing for Doug´s family, as you grieve. My favorite memories of Doug are from his childhood days...which I was lucky to share only a few days with him....we lived a world away on the east coast. Although he was the youngest boy, he was the toughest. Lots of energy and joy for life. He was showing how tough he was, once when he was about 6 or 7. Decided to punch his older cousin Tim in the stomach....much to Doug´s surprise, Tim wore a back brace that had a steel bar right where Doug´s little fist made contact. His eyes were wide open...trying to figure out how cousin Tim had such a rock hard six pack under his T-shirt. Some fishing memories at East Crooked I will always hold dear. God bless the memory of Douglas Alto.
