I first met Doug while we were contract technical writers for a banking organization. Though he was quiet, his quirky sense of humor showed up pretty quickly. He was also a thorough and precise writer, and learned easily.

I have many a fond memory of Doug´s pithy comments that he dropped quickly and quietly as he passed my desk at work.
I loved hearing of his travels, seeing him at fundraisers, his little red econo cars, his smile and laugh in the aisles at work, and how he´d give me a blister report after walking in a charity fundraising walk.
I´ll miss his wry smile the most, and the trinkets/chocolates he´d leave on my desk from his recent travels.
I took one trip with him to Cincinnati Ohio for a STC conference. As expected, he shared small tidbits about buckeyes and local traditions like cinnamon in spaghetti. He was a bit of a conundrum as he was both an adventurer and sometimes stuck in his ways...like me.
You lived your life your way, as it should be.
I need to find that picture of us in Cinci. Here´s to you, Doug! You spread light and love wherever you went.
