Auntie Marlene and family -

We are so saddened by Uncle Doug's passing. Our sympathy and love to you all, particularly on this very difficult day.
We have such fond memories of a gentle man, with such a great sense of humour and a smile that even lit up his eyes.

Marlene and family,

We were saddened to hear of Doug's passing - Steve and he enjoyed their time together in the Legislature, the times we traveled on the road together in the constituency, and especially the frequent long "chats" they shared in later years after you moved to Calgary. He was a good friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a down-to-earth grasp of situations. We will miss him. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Dear Marlene, my sincere condolences, Have fond memories of our associations with the regiment as young troop sergeants in the early '50s until Doug was posted to Windsor Ontario on "I" (Instructional Staff) and had not seen him until many years later when he retired to Calgary as former MLA from Lloydminster. Will miss his quiet manner and our meetings.

My heartfelt sympathy to you, Marlene, and your entire family. It was a privilege and joy to have you and Doug as my "attached" neighbors. I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor, his teasing and almost daily chats on many topics, including politics. It was so nice to see him head off to the park for his frequent walks with Cuddles. A true gentleman!

Marlene and family,

My deepest sympathies to all of you. Doug was such a wonderful individual and I consider myself blessed for having known him. He would always bring a smile to my face with his wonderful sense of humour, and of course his amazing laugh. The tenderness and love he expressed for his family made ma a better person. I will truly miss him, and will always cherish the memories. God bless!

Mr. Cherry was such a caring man, a devoted and proud father, and a terrific tease with his daughters' friends. It was a privilege to be considered a friend of his family.

Uncle Doug will be missed for his candor and good nature. He seemed to be a carbon copy of my father, Bill Cherry,(his brother). We always appreciated his telephone calls to our clan out east here. Whether it was to say hello or to advise our family the PC's had won the election again, we treasured our talks with him. He will be missed!
