TAYLORVILLE, W.Va. — Douglas David Diamond, of Taylorville, born Aug. 18,1947, in Chauncy, W.Va., he was the fifth son of the late Burns and Mary Evans Diamond Etters departed this life on Saturday evening January 28, 2017, while a patient at the Williamson, W.Va. Memorial Hospital. Douglas was 69 years old. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters Delores Diamond, his twin Anita Diamond Starr; brothers Cecil and Jimmy Diamond.
Doug was well known in the community as "The Coke Man," as he delivered pop all over Mingo and Logan counties having worked 26 years. All that would comment to Doug "I love you" he never failed to reply "I loved you first." Doug's pride and joy were in fact his kids and grandkids, he would go all around with a camera in hand taking advantage as well as capturing memoires and when he wasn't recording family he would record the beauties of nature, taking advantage of God's creation that surrounded him. One story often shared was during one of Doug's hunting trips, he took aim with his bow and let the arrow fly and when he arrived back home he had his prize wrapped in paper towels, it was his trophy, a deer tail and his bragging right was that he could aim better than anyone, because how many people could claim they had shot the tail off of a deer!
Doug was a veteran having served from 1966-1969, during the Vietnam conflict. Doug proudly served his country in the Air Force, upon release he had earned the rank as Sargent.
Among those left behind to cherish Doug's memories are his loving wife Lucinda (Lou) Lottridge Diamond, they were blessed with fifty years of marriage. They have three children Mary Craddock and her husband James of Morrisburg, Tenn, Cecil Diamond and his wife Lynn of Stanton, Ky, Jean Chambers and her husband Happy of Varney, W.Va., and a special family friend who was like a daughter Lori Krise and her husband Scott of Varney, W.Va.; brothers Burns Diamond and his wife Mirt of Taylorville, Bill Diamond and his wife Jackie of Morrisburg, Tommy Diamond and his wife Linda of Morrisburg; sisters Melissa Diamond of Taylorville, Denise Jude and Larry of Ragland, W.Va., Myrtle Jean Lowe of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Jessica (my girl) Craddock, James (Dude) Craddock and his wife Marie, Josh Craddock and his wife Erin, Rodney (the rock) Chambers, Maryann (Mmac) and Mark Lendearo, Joe Chambers, David and Gabby Diamond, Deloris Diamond, Priscilla Diamond, Tabitha (Tabby) Lowe, Brandon Krise, Zach Krise, along with 16 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to their angel Marie Caddock, whom they cannot thank enough for the blessing that she has been to the family and also a special thanks to the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
