In Loving Memory of Douglas Edward Frieburg

July 24, 1981 - July 3, 2025

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Douglas Edward Frieburg, who left this world far too soon on July 3, 2025, at the age of 43.

Doug was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, and a friend who could fill any room with laughter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline, his brother Jason, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and grandparents. He leaves behind his loving father, Thomas; his niece, Shawna; and most importantly, his two children-who were the light of his life- Carson, 14, and Hannah, 6 and their mother Kristy Allred.

Doug grew up in Naperville, Illinois, and graduated from Naperville North High School before attending Truman State and Eureka College. He was an incredibly talented athlete, especially on the soccer field. He also always enjoyed a good game of golf but his talents didn't stop there-he played the piano with such beauty it could move you to tears, and he had a true love for learning, whether it was through trivia, Jeopardy, studying an atlas, or diving into hours of the History Channel.

He was also a man who loved the simple joys of life-cooking a good meal, cheering on the Chicago Bears, traveling to new places, or making someone smile with a thoughtful gift. Doug had a gift for making people feel seen and special. Even through his own struggles, he never lost his sense of humor or his big heart. He was the kind of person who could turn his hard day into one filled with laughter for someone else.

Professionally, Doug built a career in the technology field, specializing in security and fire alarm systems. But after suffering a massive stroke in 2019, he chose to turn his hardship into hope for others, he did some volunteering with the United Stroke Alliance to support those facing similar challenges.

Above all else, we know deep down Doug loved his family deeply. His children were his greatest pride and joy, and his friends and loved ones were blessed to know his warmth, his generosity, and his one-of-a-kind spirit.

We will miss his laughter, his stories, his music, and the way he made us all feel just a little more special. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we take comfort in knowing Doug is finally at peace.

A private burial and celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Doug was a young boy when I was married in 1989. He was wonderful a making people laugh. He jumped in and caught the bouquet! Beautiful memory.

There are only a handful of people who I consider friends, but a much smaller number of them who I have ever felt close enough to call them brother. I will forever remember and miss my brother

I had the privilege of getting to know Doug last year. He was so much fun to be around and he always made me smile and laugh until my cheeks hurt. I will miss you, my friend
