HERTZ, Douglas John
August 16, 1960 July 15, 2011
Loved with a love beyond telling;
missed with a grief beyond all tears.
With the deepest sadness and a profound
sense of loss, we announce the passing of
Douglas John Hertz after his battle with
cancer at the age of 50. Doug faced his fight
with cancer the same way he lived his all too
short life - with strength, determination,
courage and dignity.
Doug was cherished by his beloved and
devoted wife and sons, Laura, Zach and
Parker. For us, treasured, precious memories
are left behind as well as Dougs legacy of
being the best partner and father you can be.
Doug led a principled life and his strength of
character earned him the utmost respect
from all who knew him.
Doug is predeceased by his mother, Patricia,
and survived by his father, Nick; brothers,
Bruce and Richard (Amy); sister, Joan
(Barry); nieces and nephews, Katrina, Erika,
Nicholas, Eric, Kate, Anna, Ben; father and
mother-in-law, Ted and Margaret; and
brother-in-law, Brad.
Our sincerest thanks to the family and friends
who lovingly, graciously and generously
supported us throughout this long difficult
journey. Thank you to the caring Unit 43 team
at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
A celebration of Dougs life will be held on
Tuesday, July 26, 2:00 p.m., at the Royal
Glenora Club, 11160 River Valley Road.
In lieu of flowers, any thought, story, or
memory of Doug forwarded to Zach and
Parker would honor the great man they knew
their father to be.
