I'd lost contact with Doug and only today learned of his passing when I was hoping to get some info about a scope. Doug was a great mentor, a kindred spirit, and above all, a great friend. He was always willing to share his knowledge, and his time. Goodbye old friend!

I went to Wholesale to shop on the 30th of July and noticed that you weren't around the gun counter, then to my dismay seen the notice that you'd passed.
I'd known Doug for only a few years, met him at the store and found him to be a wealth of knowledge in the shooting sports. He really mentored me into the beginning of my pursuit for accurate rifles. I bought a few rifles from him over the past few years.
Aside from the steel and glass that was his passion, Doug was a great guy who loved life and people. He took genuine interest in people's lives and enjoyed it when I brought my family into visit. Tho I never really knew him well, I was honored to have known him and will miss him.

Ouch When you said see ya later I didn't know you meant that. I too will always remember the "Good morning Beautiful" The whole facial smile when you said Hello. Also the many chats on life and how to live it better. And the Wrenches you know what i mean, so much time spent looking for those silly things. It really just seems like wasted time now. Thank you for the time I was so privelaged to know you for. I will never forget the chats about your car, and my nickname i will remember forever.
"MS. Foose"
Rest peacefully Doug Happy Hunting
Miss ya

Doug was my friend, my soul mate, and I loved him as a brother. I have so many wonderful memories of our experiences and times when we shared a place, when we traveled to different countries around the world, when we spent hours at the range, or a day in a gopher field, when we tried to catch an elusive trout all the while marvelling at the beauty of nature, or, when we were just relaxing, sipping a Courvoisier or a beer and talking about everything from sports to philosophy to politics. We had an exclusive club - Doug, Gale and me. The three of us had so much fun and I have so many good times to remember.
I wasn’t ready to say goodbye Doug. I will remember you forever and will miss your smile, your laugh, and you so very much. Love you Dig. Hope you are catching 20 inch browns and found a field where you can't step but on a gopher. See you at Shunda my friend.

Everyday I hear your voice, but your not there. Your laughter, your words of wisdom, and your caring nature will never be forgotten. My memories are of the good times we shared. Cheering the Oilers on win or lose. Drinking beer with Eric Brewer, laughing when he's asked for ID. Singing oldies at BP with friends at Chistmas. The void that is there with your passing will never be filled. I am proud to say you are a friend and that you will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in Peace

Today when I was told of your passing I was and still am stunned. We stood shoulder to shoulder and talked guns and shooting and reloading and on and on. It was my honor to have known you and shared these great times with you Doug. On either side of the counter Doug you were one of the very few genuine people I have met. Down the road I will join you in the great hunt save me a few gophers old pal.

I went in to wholesale today looking for my friend Doug and found out about his passing. He helped me as I was getting into reloading and I always appreciated his very knowledgeable advice.I especially appreciated how we would just share stories of hunting and of course gophers.I will miss seeing you behind that gun counter but I'm sure you are in a better place. You will be missed and are irreplaceable. My heart goes out to your family and other friends. I sincerely hope that wholesale sports in edmonton will have a memorial plaque made in his name for the excellent customer service he provided there.

Damn Doug, today I went into the store looking for your familiar face and noticed a sign saying that you'd moved on to a better place. And now I'm sad because I never got to tell you how much I appreciated your helpful advice and straight talk about rifles, shotguns and reloading. You were a true friend and inspiration. I have so many fond memories of our conversations...and more than a few pieces of steel and glass thanks to your suggestions and help. Your qualities as a sincere, helpful guy are rare!
So I don't know where or when we might meet up again, but in the meantime, every time I pick up my Marlin Reminton 35, Wingmaster 20, Ruger 204, and many others, I will be thinking of you. RIP my friend. And don't worry, we won't let the gophers outnumber us!

I will always cherish our conversations. You had a wonderful knack making everyone around you feel special (especially me - "Hello Beautiful"!). You were a teacher and a mentor to many and considered a true friend to quite a few. May you be surrounded by old and new friends and finally go on that big African hunt you dreamed off... RIP Dougie.. I will miss you.

Doug, you became one of my best teachers and friends that ever came around in my life. I will miss the times at work talking about firearms all the way to what the Oilers should do this year. Wholesale will never be the same without you, because a great man and teacher was lost. Everyone you have ever been close to has a hole in there heart with your passing and everyone will miss you.

Doug, our memories go back a long time, to the 70's, and they're cherished. Never did get you on that caribou hunt so we'll be looking for you this fall. Take pride in that you lived a proper life and were respected and honest. I never heard anyone complain about you, but rather only heard good compliments. You'll be missed by all!!

Doug was a mentor and friend back from his time at Jack's Gun Rack (from the mid to late 1970's).
Always quick with a smile and a good word, Doug combined his considerable and detailed wealth of firearms-related knowledge with a casual and friendly attitude that never seemed tired when it came to helping out a customer.
Doug, you're going to be missed by a lot of people. It's sad to see you go, but I'm confident that you are in a better place now.
Rest easy, old friend.

Doug,I have learnt many things fron you over the seven years I knew you. You were a great mentor to me, but most of all a huge resource of knowledge and a mentor for my son Adrian. My garage will be empty and Adrian's mechanical skills will drop without your car to fix.
May the fishing be great and the gophers huge where you now are. God bless.

Doug, I will miss your bright smile and big hello. You were a great mentor and never hesitated to answer any question I asked you. You had this great way of responding back in a way that I could oftimes figure out the answer myself, and if not you were always kind in your response. You were a great teacher! Your encyclipeadic knowledge of all things guns and of life experience will never be matched, I will miss you and the place will not be the same without you. May God bless you as you rest in peace.

I can’t believe you are gone. Doug you were a true friend, co-worker, mentor and teacher. You taught me so much about the business and how to live life to the fullest. I will miss your cheerful greetings and your laughter at work and at home. I will miss our sitting by the fire and smoking a fine cigar, sipping on a port (or two) and listening to the 70’s and 80’s music. You will always be in my thoughts. Rest in Peace Doug.

Doug was a true sportsman, enthusiastic mentor, and great friend. He has forgotten more than I will ever know in regards to the outdoors and I hope that one day I can have the following of supporters that he did. You will be truly missed my friend. I can't believe you are gone. Its with great sorrow that I write this. I can only hope that you are in a happier place and your family is in a state of repair and happiness for the life they shared with such a great human being. You were always kind and good spirited. You taught me so much Doug, your presence in this world will be truly missed. Thank you for all you did for me. I'll cherish your memory always my good friend. God Bless!

Every day that I now come into work, and know I will never hear "good morning beautiful" again from your kind heart hurts. You were a teacher and a mentor for many friends in this life, and it will never go unforgotten. We shared many laughs and many cries, but I now know you have gone to a place without pain. We will see each other again one day, and until then I will always remember your kind words, your generous laugh and beautiful heart. You will be so very missed. All my love.
