Douglas Mochrie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 13, 2021.
February 8, 1932 - April 8, 2021 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doug at the Willowgrove LTC in his 90th year. Doug will be deeply missed by his wife Barb (Nee: Rorke) and his children Dave, Scott (Sheryl) and Tish (Morris) Nardi. Remembering their Poppa are his grandchildren Adam (Meredith) Mochrie, Leah (Jeff) Bassindale, Michael (Jaime) Anderson, Dina Nardi and Mitchell Nardi. Big Poppa to Grady, Lacy, Emmett, Abigail, Maya, Logan and Connor. Doug will be missed by his brother Bruce (Jan) Mochrie. After retirement from the Hamilton Hydro, he volunteered at the War Plane Heritage, Meals On Wheels and drove for the Cancer Society. Doug and Barb enjoyed many years of sunny southern vacations where they always met the greatest people who often became lifelong friends. Doug's happiest times were at the cottage in Midland where he had over 50 years of parties, camp fires and daily Happy Hour and Half. This is where he gave us our passions for boating, fishing and a love of Georgian Bay. "Every time you swim in Fairy Lake you come out better looking". Every hunting season was spent at the camp with all his buddies. Doug always loved a party and enjoyed a great life. The family would like to thank the staff at the Willowgrove for their exceptional care and enduring his sense of humour and harmonica playing. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice. www.baygardens.ca www.baygardens.ca

Doug was a big man with an even bigger heart. He told great stories, jokes and had us laughing whenever we saw him. He always wanted to know about what we were doing and how things were going for us. Great guy. Our condolences to Barb, Tish (& Mo), Dave, Scott & the rest of the Mochrie clan.

Doug was always up for having a friend over for a visit and a drink. John and l had a few of those visits ourselves.

My condolences to your loss from me and also from Dan from heaven who shared lots of laughs with Doug as a young man at Smith's camp and Hurricane football games. May the memories help you through this difficult time. Carol Service.
