I just became aware of the passing of Doug. I had known Doug at D.A. Moodie middle school, and Bell high School. Always thought of him as the Canadian version of Rocky Balboa because he used to wear his black winter cap at middle school like the movie hero during the late 70's. I lost with him when I left for the U.S. Colleges in 1986, while occasionaly keeping in touch on fb in 2009 until my account got suspended. I will always remember him as a great athleate from gym class, also he was smart in school if he concentrated in studies, also was a tough guy on the outside, with a soft heart on the inside. I convey my belated condolences to the family. With peace and sincerity !

Although I only had the pleasure and honour of knowing Doug for a very short time his absolute love for his 3 girls was very evident and he was truly larger than life! Such an amazing personality, great sense of humour and just so much fun. You and the girls are in my prayers and thoughts Katja. So sad to hear about Doug. Our condolences to Doug's children, wife, family and friends. I knew Doug since he was a kid. Biggest smile I have ever seen that fit one of the nicest people I have ever met. He never lost that smile or that shine. I spent a lot of time with him in Nepean Hockey and around Bells Corners. So honored to have been lucky enough to know Doug. We are saddened and shocked at losing a great guy way way too young. See you again some day my friend
