My father, Dr. Philip J. Bailey worked with Dr. Pinto while an anesthesiologist at Pacific Medical Center. Before my dad passed away in 1986 I remember him speaking so warmly and with great respect for Dr. Pinto.

God Bless.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Pinto as a UCSF Chief Resident in 1984-1985. I learned a great deal from him, including a technique for abdominal closure in very high risk patients that I have used my entire career. Having passed this on to others, I recently received a note from one of my former fellows who has used this same technique with great satisfaction.
Doug's legacy lives on...

Dr. Pinto was my surgeon for breast cancer in 1987. I loved his reassuring manner and his calm. He followed me until his retirement. He was a wonderful doctor. My sympathies to his family and friends.

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Pinto's death. He was The best surgeon I ever had the fortune to work with in the operating room at CPMC. He was such a gentleman and the calmest person in any emergency.
He was always available to help other surgeons if needed.
What a great loss of a great man.

Doug Pinto was an enormously talented surgeon respected by my husband, Tom Russell, who also passed on this year. We all appreciate them both and are humbled by their ability and devotion to their patients.
