Anna, Glen and Donna:
We were sorry to hear of Doug's sudden passing. His death brings back many memories - Doug was the one who named the seniors who retired from the work force about the same time the "geritol group" and we have socialized for many years. There were card games, dinners out, picnics and some even took the winters as snow birds together in Arizona.
One of our memorable trips was when six of the geritols travelled by cars to Victoria to visit another member there. Doug and Anna first stopped by way of Red Deer, supposedly to pick up new tires but when the Rankins arrived, they were sporting a new car which we were given to understand was purchased on the spur of the moment!
Doug's contribution to WW 2 was outstanding but even in later years he would mention that he was a "D-Day dodger" which to some would be taken to mean that he did not take part in this action. As his friends and family know, he was right in the thick of the Italian campaign.
We will miss his stories and sense of humour.

Anna, Glen, and Donna,
We are deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Doug was a dear friend to my mom and dad, Lois and Eric Wasden, for most of their lives. He always like to remind me that it was my mom who sang at Doug and Anna's wedding. I always enjoyed listening to Doug relate his found memories about my dad and the various tales of their mechanical mis-adventures. After dad passed Doug was always there for my mom no matter what. I will always be in his debt for that. Our thoughts are with you.

Ann, Glen and Donna, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of Doug and my dad sharing a laugh. I remember the night when Ann and Doug rode up to my mother's front door on a motorcycle and nearly sent my mother into shock! He was a wonderful person and will be missed.

My condolences to you all.
