It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Kenneth Rea on March 20, 2017 in Cabo San Lucas. Doug said goodbye peacefully in a resort much like his beloved place at Buffalo Lake, surrounded by tranquil waters, sandy beaches and sunshine. He would want his family and friends to carry this message of remembrance in their hearts. Doug loved his wife Angela deeply. Their special relationship was one of a kind, a true genuine bond with unconditional love. Second to Angela was the special bond with his children; Derrick, Janine, his much loved daughter-in-law Emilie, and he was very excited about the arrival of his first grandson. If you were fortunate to know Doug, you became a better person. Doug (Dad) will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Doug is survived by his loving wife Angela; daughter Janine; son and daughter-in-law Derrick and Emilie; his sisters, Sherri and Kathy; and numerous in-laws. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Doug Rea, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Angie, Derek and Janine - Harry Holman informed me of your loss. I am so sorry and wanted you all to know that I remember your husband and father with much fondness. My thoughts are with you all at time. As time moves forward, many wonderful memories will invade your thoughts. Doug. Was. One of the good ones. Great ones. I will miss our friendship, which spanned 35 years. But I will always remember the man who was everyone's friend and mentor. Respected and loved by all. What a legacy he leaves. Only far too soon.
