Douglas "Buck" Franklin Ryder Buck Ryder, 69, of Banco, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013. Buck was born on July 10, 1943, in Madison County, Virginia, to the late Walter Joseph Ryder and Bertha Yowell Ryder. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Walter Ryder. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Dorothy V. Ryder; daughter, Cindy L. Morris and husband, Roger, of Banco; beloved grandson, Joshua Morris and wife, Julie, of Orange; a brother, David Ryder and wife, Linda, of Etlan, two sisters, Daisy Breeden and husband, James, of Orange, and Katherine Fincham of Culpeper; and numerous nieces and nephews. Buck enjoyed hunting and fishing with life-long friend Benny Hurt of Criglersville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with interment at Etlan Cemetery conducted by Pastor Lonnie Salyers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the funeral home.

Buck was a very kind and generous man. I cannot imagine having a better brother-in-law. He was more like a brother to me. He cultivated fruits and vegetables and always shared them with family, friends and strangers. Buck was truly a man connected to the Earth and its elements. I will miss him very much and think of him often. I send my love to all who have known him.
