Gone but not forgotten❤

A year has slipped by already but I still have many fond memories.

I to was shocked to see his passing as i met doug at the pub in the glebe about 22 years ago. and i learned so much talking with him he changed my life in that i learned i had lots to contribute and that he could see the curiosity and intelligence i had that had not been sparked thanks you Doug for that spark ... the world lost a truly gifted man.

Doug. You were arranging a UK visit in 2016. I offered to host you. It never happened. Maybe I now know why. But anytime in the future - you or your family - just let me know.

Wow. Doug. I'm late. I'm sorry to hear you're gone. I did my MSc while you did your PhD. I was a Brit at UWO from 77 to 78. You taught me softball and the art of the quick reposte with some double entendre. I recall you vividly. Wherever you are gone, you have my best wishes.

Hello Elda, I am the Ex of Mazen Soubra, Sandra De Vasconcelos. I have just seen online the passing of Doug. I can say he was the most fun,charasmatic man and was always laughing and joking with everybody. My condolences to you and your family. I will remember him always

Hello, I only learned of Doug's passing because I searched his name. I was a graduate student with Doug at Western. He was doing his PhD while I was doing my MSc and he was a warm and helpful mentor. He helped me get my first job in Toronto. I am really sorry to have missed a chance to connect with him after so many years. My deepest condolences to you, his family and friends.

Dear Elda: I just recently learned of Doug's passing and wanted to send you my condolences. I still chuckle about all the funny stories you would share with us over lunch & coffee breaks at TOH, regarding Doug's latest adventures and how much he would make you laugh! Doug was truly a remarkable individual and he will certainly be missed! Take care & know that Jim and I are thinking of you!

So very sorry to hear...My colleagues and I at CBSA Prescott are saddened to learn of Doug's passing...Doug was someone we looked forward to seeing every day. Doug had a kind word each and every time we encountered him and is known around here as our "favourite" regular.

To Doug's family,

I had the pleasure of working with Doug at Samaritan Medical Center quite a few years ago. His laugh and sense of humor were infectious, what stories he could tell! He was a joy to work with and I will always remember him with the fondest memories. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

We will sadly miss Doug's presence on Knudson, as a good neighbour, a lover of dogs, (especially Newton!) and as an all round good hearted person. May you be in a better place Doug - we miss you.

Doug was a good friend of mine at the Cancer Center. Always there to talk when you needed someone to vent to! I know he loved his family and his job. It seems so unreal that we will never hear his laughter and jokes! I will think of him every time I pass his office or go in the break room and he's not there! Miss you already Doug! ❤

Doug will be truly missed by many

I work at the U.S. border as an officer. I had a distinct pleasure of meeting Doug many years ago. I can honestly say this man made my day every time I saw him. He always had a smile on his face and words of encouragement for the day. I'm very happy I had him pull aside a few weeks ago and have a long chat with me. He told me he would keep me in the loop...unfortunately he was soon gone. I meet many people on a daily basis in my job, but none will ever compare to Doug. Rest in peace my friend...a face a will truly miss seeing every day!

What a breath of fresh air Doug was at the border. There was never a day that he didn't have a smile on his face and kind words to share. We are all so very sorry for you loss of this special man. Ogdensburg NY Customs and Border Protection is thinking of you during this difficult time.

We were so shocked and saddened when we learned of Doug's recent struggles and sudden passing. Doug was always a such a pleasure to be around. He had a way of really listening to you, always showing interest, compassion and warmth. We will miss him dearly.

Our most deepest condolences for the passing of your dear brother Doug. Blake and I have been so fortunate to have been welcomed so lovingly into your family and your homes. This makes it even so painful for us to watch you all suffer and go through such difficult times.

While we only met Doug once, we quickly witnessed a personality bigger than life. I am sure that you all miss him terribly already. Saddened to hear of the loss of Uncle Doug sending our thoughts and prayers to the Salhani Family. He was a good man and will be missed.

My uncle Dougie was one of the most fun loving, infectious people I've ever known. Truly a one of a kind man, who could light up a room and made it a better place to be.
