Sean Michael Murphy

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Sean Michael Murphy, loving son, brother, and father, unexpectedly passed away far too early at the young age of 46.Sean was born on November 5, 1975, in Vallejo, CA to John Murphy and Doreen Serb. Later, Sean welcomed his stepmother, Gail Murphy, into his life.Sean grew up on Dan Court in Vallejo, which is where he met his neighbors and lifelong friends, Benjamin and Daniel Saguar.He attended elementary school in Vallejo and graduated from Hogan High School in 1993.Sean had a passion for all sports but had a particular affinity for baseball. He was an outstanding pitcher and played for East Vallejo Little League and Vallejo Babe Ruth, where he was named MVP multiple times. He continued to play baseball for Hogan High School and The American Legion.His love of baseball, and the San Francisco Giants, was passed down to his son, Dylan James Murphy, age 12. Sean spent much of his free time coaching and watching his son play ball. He was happiest when at the field taking in a game. Sean was most proud of his son for his academic achievements, athletic abilities, and kind heart.Sean enjoyed watching all the Bay Area sports teams compete and had a passion for playing fantasy football and baseball. Best known for his gaming handle "Seany 2 Shots," Sean loved collecting sports memorabilia and was famous for his extensive bobble-head collection which he proudly displayed in his office.Sean touched many lives throughout his career in the mortgage industry. A loan officer for over 25 years, Sean began his career working for his father and mentor, John. Sean went on to build a successful local business with his sister-in-law and right-hand partner, Julie Murphy.Ever the family man, Sean always prioritized family get-togethers, and was an extremely generous gift giver. He was proud of his Irish heritage which he prominently displayed with a shamrock tattoo and his favorite drink, Bushmills.Sean is survived by his parents, John and Gail Murphy and Doreen Serb; his son, Dylan Murphy; his siblings, Patrick (Samantha), Ryan (Julie), and Shannon (Ryan); his three nieces, Kylie, Alyssa, and Teagan; three nephews, Andrew, Jamison, and Liam; and his Akita dog, Ari.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Northgate, 2201 Lake Herman Road, Benicia, CA, at 3 p.m. Immediately following the service a reception will take place at the Clock Tower, 1189 Washington St., Benicia.Arrangements under the care of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel.
