Mrs. Hulda Emmaline Holter, 94, of Jefferson, died Monday, April 20, 2009, at Citizens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Frederick. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clark C. Moser in 1946 and her second husband, John D. Holter in 1978.
Born in Galax, Va., she was a daughter of the late Lemuel and Caroline Elizabeth Mabe Frost and was also the last of her immediate family. She retired from the Frederick County school system as cafeteria manager at Middletown Elementary School. She was a member of the Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Jefferson for more than 80 years and was a lifetime deacon.
She was a very active member at Pleasant View where taught in the children's department of the Sunday school; was director of the Sunday school for many years; children's director for many years; served as church clerk; directed vacation bible school and also cooked at Camp Piniel, a church camp near Thurmont and was active in the women's fellowship of the church serving in many offices. She also attended church at Tranquility of Fredericktowne where she had resided for five years.
She was a world traveler and was involved in many charitable organizations and has also volunteered at Valley Elementary School. She sponsored children with the Christian Children Fund and met one of her sponsored children in Africa.
She is survived by one son, Glenn E. Moser and wife, Shirley, of Middletown; one daughter, Alma E. Dade and husband, Stanley, of Jefferson; another daughter-in-law, Marie Moser of Palm Coast, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Ken Moser and wife, Becky, Bill Moser and wife, Missy, Ann Beauchamp and husband, Ed, Dennis Moser and wife, Sheri, Danny Moser and wife, Pam, Julie Reynolds and husband, James, Kathy Stowers and husband, Tom, Jamelyn Snoots and friend, Jeremy Davis; two step-grandchildren, Joe Dade and Vickie Dade; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Clark William "Bill" Moser in 2003; a son-in-law, James Snoots; and a granddaughter, Jamie Snoots.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, from Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, Jefferson. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
