Doug & I met when he was in Grade Ten in Regina. We were buddies from the early 1970's until his passing. Although he moved away from Saskatchewan in the 1980's, he always did lots of trips and visits back to his friends and family here. I am so thankful that we kept in touch over the years. I am a better person because I knew Douglas Stewart. I will miss him.

On behalf of the Edmonton FireFighters Memorial Society, please accept our condolences on Doug's passing.
Please know that he will be missed greatly. Although I have never had the pleasure in working with Doug, talking to several members and retirees who did he was a very well respected member of our department.
We want to give your family time to grieve your loss but if you could please mark Sunday September 9th 2018 on your calendar, as that will be the day of our Annual Remembrance Ceremony.
It will be the day that we remember all those members that we have lost in the past year.
It is also a very special ceremony as we have the family members of those members involved in the event itself.
It gives us all a chance to say goodbye and it helps with the closure as well.
If I could have a family member to contact me at 780-619-1564 or at [email protected] then I can get back to them and we can talk about arrangements for this years ceremony.
In closing, please accept our deepest condolences on your loss and know that Doug will be missed.

I worked with Doug for a few years. We went skiing together at marmot and I enjoyed the conversations while riding the chair. We were also the two people first on scene at a tragic accident of a marmot staff member years ago.
I remember he always was tinkering on some car and despite some quirks was a good man.
May he now be able to eat onions and endlessly drive without having to do repairs.

Saddened to learn of Doug's passing.I think it would be fair to say he sometimes swam against the current. His heart was always in the right place. His family was always first and the less fortunate being second. It was a pleasure to work with Doug and I will miss his stories, idea's, and smile.

My deepest condolences to the Stewart family.
I was fortunate enough to work with Doug over the years while on the Fire Dept. and enjoyed those times.
Doug was interesting and not afraid to speak his mind. That's probably why we got along.
He definitely was taken too soon!
He will be missed!

Doug was a EFRS classmate when we started in 1982. Doug lived with me for about a year. This is when I learned his love for cars and anything mechanical. Unfortunately I will be out of town for his celebration of life. Doug you will be missed by many and my heart goes out to your family and friends.
