Dr. Carol Pillsbury Patton

Dr. Carol Pillsbury Patton, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2022, at Regency at Whitmore Lake in Whitmore Lake, MI.

The youngest of three daughters, Carol was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 22, 1938, to George Byron and Lillian Pillsbury.

Carol was an ambitious and avid learner. She attended The Ohio State University from 1968 to 1975. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, Master of Science Degree in Physiology and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Physiology from The Ohio State University. She went on to obtain a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in the mid-1980s.

With a heart for helping those in need, Carol spent a great deal of her life in service to her community. She worked as a nurse, helping people with their health related issues, and taught nursing at the University of Michigan. She served the 13th district of Michigan as a lawyer, worked as a staff member to the late congressman John Conyers Jr. and also maintained a private law practice.

Carol will be remembered especially for her tenacity, passion for science, love of education and endless pursuit of knowledge. As an expert in her fields of study, she spent much of her time encouraging others to pursue their own personal and professional dreams.

She was preceded in death by her sister Janice Grolle, and both of her parents. Carol is survived by her sister Shirley (Art) Duffy; her two children Christina Majors and Robert (Cindy) Gardner Jr.; her two grandchildren: Trent (Nicole) Gardner and Matthew Gardner.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 3852 Everett Rd, Bath, Ohio 44210 on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 11:45 a.m. A reception at the church will take place after the service.
